Hello from Laurel, MS<\/p>\n
Sunday August 21, 2022 (Second post of this travelogue)<\/p>\n
We are in Laurel, MS at the Holiday Inn (Google Map)<\/a><\/p>\n {google_map}31.6854 -89.1504{\/google_map}<\/p>\n This is our second \u201cmajor\u201d stop since it is the setting for the HGTV show called \u201cHome Town\u201d.\u00a0 Our trip here from Waco included an overnight stop in Minden, LA.<\/p>\n We got to this hotel around 1:00 PM and waited for a room to become available.\u00a0 Our goal was to get into the room in time to watch the drag races from Brainerd, MN.\u00a0 We will do a quick tour of the area tomorrow morning before heading to New Orleans.<\/p>\n Our stay in the Waco area went pretty well.\u00a0 On Thursday, we took a morning limousine tour (Mercedes Sprinter Van) of the Waco area.\u00a0 There were 8 people on the tour and the van seats 13 so we had lots of seating space.\u00a0 As is always the case, these tours really showcase the area and all the great details\/sights.\u00a0 The tour included several \u201cdrive-bys\u201d of some of the homes from the \u201cFixer Upper\u201d TV show.\u00a0 Many have been sold by the original owners or converted into short term rentals.<\/p>\n After the tour we went to the Magnolia Table for lunch.\u00a0 This is the business that Chip and Joanna Gaines created after remodeling the building.\u00a0 It was great food and we had enough left over for dinner.\u00a0 Of course, we had to have the \u201cavocado toast\u201d that was well documented in one of the shows (Chip was not impressed by the concoction \u2013 but it became very popular)<\/p>\n Friday we drove back to Waco and Pat was able to do some shopping at the \u201cThe Silos\u201d.\u00a0 Again, this is a set of businesses that Chip and Joanna created and documented in some of their shows.\u00a0 It was fun to see some of the sights from the show.<\/p>\n That is all for this post.\u00a0 More in a subsequent posts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Hello from Laurel, MS Sunday August 21, 2022 (Second post of this travelogue) We are in Laurel, MS at the Holiday Inn (Google Map) {google_map}31.6854 -89.1504{\/google_map} This is our second \u201cmajor\u201d stop since it is the setting for the HGTV … Continue reading
