{"id":10,"date":"2014-08-12T01:05:00","date_gmt":"2014-08-12T01:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beltguy.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/12\/hello-from-holyoke-co\/"},"modified":"2015-05-04T12:40:00","modified_gmt":"2015-05-04T12:40:00","slug":"hello-from-holyoke-co","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beltguy.com\/Travelogue\/?p=10","title":{"rendered":"Hello from Holyoke, CO"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\nHello from Holyoke, CO<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\nMonday evening, &nbsp;August 11, 2014&nbsp;&nbsp; (Second post of this travelogue)<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\nHolyoke? \u2013 there has to be a story about our location.&nbsp; More later.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\nYesterday we left Prescott a bit later than we planned<br \/>\n(about 2:00PM) and thus decided to take a more leisurely drive home.&nbsp; If we drive the car, we usually go straight<br \/>\nthrough (10-12 hours with a few potty and meal stops).&nbsp; In the bus we drive at 68 MPH (safer and best<br \/>\nmileage).&nbsp; At that speed we take two<br \/>\ndays.&nbsp; This time we are breaking it up so<br \/>\nthat we are taking 3 days.&nbsp; Last night we<br \/>\nstopped in York, NE (at the Wal Mart, of course).&nbsp; Tonight we are in a gravel lot at a huge<br \/>\ngrain elevator in Holyoke, CO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/40%C2%B035%2707.2%22N+102%C2%B018%2734.5%22W\/@40.5853329,-102.3095833,2203m\/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0\">(map)<\/a>.&nbsp; <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\nOur route from Prescott was a bit different from our<br \/>\nnorm.&nbsp; We decided to avoid all the construction<br \/>\non US 34 (and the possibility of more flat tires) and go north on CR N61 then<br \/>\nCR H20 to IA 148.&nbsp; From there we took IA<br \/>\n92 to I 29.&nbsp; That is a lot of back roads,<br \/>\nbut it was a pretty easy drive.&nbsp; <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\nHolyoke is not on our normal route.&nbsp; I had planned to stop at the rest area in<br \/>\nJulesburg, but we were fairly early and I thought there could be an issue with<br \/>\nstaying too long (many have a 10 hour limit).&nbsp;<br \/>\nSo, at Ogallala, we took the exit to try to find a place to park for the<br \/>\nnight.&nbsp; Quickly, the town ended and we<br \/>\nwere on a two lane with nowhere to turn around.&nbsp;<br \/>\nI decided to continue south and then head west when possible.&nbsp; The route took us down NE 61 and then on<br \/>\nNE\/CO 23.&nbsp; The two lanes were good in<br \/>\nsome areas and pretty darn rough in others.&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\nTomorrow we will travel a short distance on US 6 to Sterling<br \/>\nwhere we will dump the tanks at the rest stop and then head home on our normal<br \/>\nroute.&nbsp; This detour was really not all<br \/>\nthat far out of the way.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\nIt is kind of nice to drive shorter distances.&nbsp; It is also fun to drive on some of the two<br \/>\nlanes and see the small towns.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\nThat is all for now.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello from Holyoke, CO Monday evening, &nbsp;August 11, 2014&nbsp;&nbsp; (Second post of this travelogue) Holyoke? \u2013 there has to be a story about our location.&nbsp; More later.
